Somnia Journal ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information. By using the Somnia Journal app, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

  • Account email address — used to create and authenticate your account.
  • Dream journal entries — the text you write when logging dreams. These are stored securely and associated with your account.
  • AI analysis data — when you request a reflection or insight, your entry text is sent to our AI provider for processing. This data is not used to train AI models.
  • Subscription status — managed through RevenueCat to handle in-app purchases and subscription verification.
  • Basic usage logs — anonymized analytics such as app opens, feature usage, and crash reports, collected to improve the app experience.

Third-Party Services

We rely on the following trusted third-party providers:
  • Supabase — secure cloud database that stores your account and journal entries. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit.
  • OpenAI — processes dream entry text to generate AI-assisted reflections. OpenAI does not use data submitted via the API to train their models.
  • RevenueCat — manages subscription billing and purchase verification. RevenueCat does not have access to your dream entries.

How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect solely to:
  • Authenticate you and provide access to your journal.
  • Store and retrieve your dream entries.
  • Generate AI-assisted reflections and monthly insights.
  • Process and verify your subscription.
  • Improve app stability and user experience through anonymized analytics.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your dream entries for advertising.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at support@somniajournalapp.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted storage via Supabase and secure HTTPS connections. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

Children's Privacy

Somnia Journal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
